Nannie Louis Tutwyler Jones , 84, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at her home in Arvonia, VA. She was born January 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Willie MaeJohnson Tutwyler Banks and Bernard Carl Tutwyler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Maynard R.N. Jones; four brothers, Stanley, Nathan, Robert, and Charlie Tutwyler; and her beloved dog Dash she had for 7 years.
Nannie was educated at Union Branch Elementary School and Buckingham Training High School. Her employment consisted of various jobs during her lifetime but most notably she worked twenty years at Morton/Conagra Frozen Foods and three years at Park Street Christian Preschool until her retirement.
Nannie confessed Jesus as Lord of her life at an early age and joined Union Branch Baptist Church where she supported the ministry her entire life. At Union Branch she served as Deaconess, and a member of the Missionary Ministry, Senior Choir, and Gospel Chorus. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of the Twilight Gospel Singers.
Nannie was a beloved wife, mother grandmother, and aunt. She spent most of her time caring for her family. Her hobbies included watching WWE Wrestling, cooking, singing, but most of all traveling and spending time with her children, especially at Christmas. Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 34:1.
On August 27, 1955, she married the love of her life, Rev. Maynard R. N. Jones. To this union, they had six children: Patricia (Keith) Ayers of Arvonia, Carolyn (Chris) Walker of Kents Store, VA, Ericka (Percy) Ayers of Esmont, VA, Donald (Sandra) Jones of Arvonia, Michael (Faith) Jones of Dillwyn, VA, and Ronnie (Deborah) Jones of Charlottesville, VA. Also left to cherish memories are nine grandchildren, Damien, Jerrick, Makayla, Brycen, Christina, Tiffany, Madison, Adonis and Jamesha; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Peyton (Grace) Tutwyler of New Canton; two stepsiblings, Richard (Jackie) Banks of Newport News, VA and Rena Grimes of New Canton; two brothers-in-law, Lewis (Barbara) Jones of New Rochelle, NY and Rev. Larry (Thelma) Jones of Snelville, GA; sisters-in law, Mary Ann Tutwyler of New Canton, VA, Tammy Tutwyler of Dillwyn, Nannie Jones of Brooklyn, NY and Doris Jones of Richmond, VA; two adoped children, Florene(Milton) Taylor and Jerome (Sandy) Wheeler; three devoted cousins, Vercal Crenshaw, Vanessa Brown, and Dionne Brice who always took time to visit; best friends, Claire West and Nannie Woodson; special friends, Martha Ann Walton, Annie Ayers, Carl and Helen Walker, and Francesca Walker; and many other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
