Mr. Leroy Bradley, Sr., died after a long fight with an illness at Martha Jefferson Hospital, in Charlottesville, VA, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 73.
Leroy was born on January 25, 1945, in Bremo Bluff, VA, to Willie Lee and Caroline. He was the 13th of 14 boys. Leroy graduated in 1965 from S.C. Abrams High School in Palmyra, VA. He then moved to New York City to join his brothers and to pursue a career. During that time, he married his first wife and had two children. After moving back to Virginia, Leroy began working for UVA Medical Center as a Security Officer. Later on, Leroy met and married MaryAnn. Over the years, the couple made Bremo Bluff their home; they started their fish business and started travel to their clients. Leroy earned the nickname as the "Fish Man", supplying Central Virginia with the best fish and shrimp. In 2008, Leroy retired from UVA after 18 years of service.
Leroy was an avid sports enthusiast and often engaged in local sports activities such as a referee. He especially enjoyed baseball. Leroy loved to fish and hunt. He was a witty-friendly individual who loved playing cards and bowling. Leroy was also passionate about the people he loved. The family would like to thank his caregivers Martha Ross and Ermal Gough for their support. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Leroy Bradley, Sr.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee and Caroline Christopher Bradley and ten brothers. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Lawrence-Bradley, Bremo Bluff, VA; two children, Leroy Jr and Jennifer Ann of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Ava and Brooklyn; three stepdaughters, Loretta Lawrence, Dana Jenkins, and Maria Lawrence-Jenkins; ten step grandchildren; three brothers and spouses, Phillip and Joyce of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lindsay and Joan of Moncure, NC, Winston of Troy, VA; four sisters-in-law and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Cloverdale Baptist Church 1222 Cloverdale Road with the Rev. Charles Lewis officiating.
