Kenneth Odell Woodson, Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather and friend entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by family members in Hospice Care, Charlottesville, Virginia on October 24, 2016.
He was born December 3, 1944 to the late Odell and Alice Smith Woodson.
He joined Union Baptist Church, Shores, at any early age where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher.
He graduated from S. C. Abrams High School in Fluvanna County. He furthered his education at Virginia State College, Petersburg, Virginia graduating with a master's degree in education.
Kenneth taught as an agriculture teacher at Goochland County High School for 20 years and at Fluvanna County High School for 19 years. He enjoyed teaching. His skills were welding, woodworking, gardening and planting flowers.
Kenneth is survived by a devoted and dedicated wife of 49 years, Mary; two sons, Kenneth Jr. (Angie) of Fork Union, VA and Andre of Charlottesville; one daughter, Tanya Jackson (Maurice) of Louisa, VA; seven grandchildren: Tonnisha Robinson, Bryan, Jordon Jackson, Jalen Jackson, Marquell and Delonte Woodson, Rashad Bruce, Tianna and Taneya Jackson and Nicole Carter; two great-grandchildren: Isaiah and Aubrey; three brothers-in-laws, Thomas Cadlett (Linda), James Cadlett (Mary) and Andrew Cadlett; One sister-in-law, Minister Denise Monroe (Minister Mallory); a god daughter, Precious Bland, his beloved dog, Lucy; two devoted friends: Edward Pace and John White And a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, October 30,2016 at Central Elementary School 3340 Central Plains Road Palmyra, VA 22963 with Pastor Devin Coles, officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery 174 Union Church Road Palmyra, VA 23963.
