Kenneth Basil Anderson , 80, of Fork Union, Virginia went to be with the Lord after a short illness on Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia.   He was born June 6, 1943 in Columbia, Virginia.  He was the fifth child born to the late Henry P. and Beulah Anderson.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Edmonia Anderson and Doris Anderson and a one brother, Gollar Anderson.

As a young boy he attended Gravel Hill Sunday School.  His first teaching of the Bible was in the home.  He attended Gravel Hill and Shiloh Elementary Schools and S. C. Abrams High School.

In the summer of 1959, he gave his life to the Lord at the Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbia, VA and was baptized and became a member of the Columbia Baptist Church under the leadership of the Reverend Samuel Lee.  He loved his pastors and church families and often spoke well of them.  His favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art". His life's quote which became a part of him was "stay with the Vine; He will never leave you or forsake you".   Kenneth's hobby was hunting, fishing and gardening.   His work was carpentry but farming was his joy.  He loved to travel and could make friends with everybody.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  two brothers; Henry and Glenn Anderson, two sisters-in-law, Velma and Annie Anderson, one devoted niece, Tonya Cook (Steven), four nephews, five great nephews, six great nieces, devoted cousins and family friends Richard and Lucille Lewis, Leonard Opie, Jr., Laura Frazier; other devoted friends: John Buggs, Cornelius Patterson, Mitchell Taylor, Marvin Jackson, Kenneth Woodson, and Edgar Jones.
