James Archer Stovall, Jr was born on January 4, 1955, at St. Philip Hospital 907 W.Marshall Street, Richmond, VA at 1:30 in the morning, to his parents; James Archer Sr. and Lillie Mae Vowels, Stovall, both of Bremo Bluff, "West Bottom", VA. He was blessed to turn 67 on Jan. 4 th
"Jimmy" is what we called him, never James, but on occasion, in times of need, Momma called him "James Archer", that meant he needed to rain it in. Jimmy, third child, second son, baby boy, the apple of his Mother's eye has been preceded on the journey from earth to reward by our big brother Clarence Wade on November 10, 2017, our Momma, on Feb. 16, 2018, our big sister, first born, Joyce Elizabeth Stovall Turner, May 17, 2019, and her oldest son, our nephew, Charles Winston Turner, Jr, Sept. 2021, and thus on March 31, 2022, at 11:54am, Jimmy left many behind to remember all the blessings of his life. Jimmy had a big heart for people, a passion for fishing, and a love for lottery, and games of chance.
Jimmy joined the United States Army, the year of 1974, when he was to graduate Fluvanna High School. He got his diploma while in military. He was a Fluvanna native, matriculated through the schools' systems, beginning 1961 at Central Elementary, one year at S.C. Abrams High School, then upon county wide integration, Fluvanna Jr. and Sr. High Schools.
Jimmy was the only person I knew who never missed one day of school, throughout his first seven years, earning that Perfect Attendance Award, he set as his goal each year. His military career took him to Fort Hood, TX, where he met his first wife. He was divorced, by the time he reported to his next permanent duty station, in Germany, where his MOS, Radio Teletype Operator took him. He remained there until his service ended with an Honorable Discharge, June 6, 1977
Jimmy worked five years as custodian at Arvonia Primary School, in Arvonia, Va, then 1988, he transferred to Fluvanna County School Systems where he was Custodian at Columbia School and he loved it there so much, yet after that school closed, he joined the custodial staff of Central Elementary School, and there he remained 30 years, retiring in June 2018.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022 in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson Fork Union.
