George Rudolph Key , at the age of 82, slept quietly into eternal rest early Tuesday morning, May 15, 2018 at the Kissito Healthcare Brian Center Botetourt in Fincastle, Virginia.  George, affectionately called "Joe Louis" was born on January 31, 1936 to the late Rosalie Key.  In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandson Anthony Davis, and brother Herman Key, Sr.

Joe Louis became a member of the Byrd Grove Baptist Church at an early age while living with his grandparents in Kents Store, VA.

Joe Louis was excellent at using his hands to do brick and mortar work. Therefore, when he moved to Gainesville, VA, he started his owned businesses in construction and masonry. When Joe Louis retired, he moved back home to Kents Store.

Joe Louis was married to the former late Mae Lee Davis.  To this union two daughters were born Priscilla and Dianna. He also adopted Patricia and raised her as his own daughter.

Joe had an infectious laugh that was contagious.  The laughter will be remembered as well as many other memories that will be cherished by his daughters, Priscilla Ann Key, Dianna Lee Key, and Patricia K. Jones (Anthony); granddaughter Deidra Key; sister Geraldine Tyler; sister-in-law Elva Key; nephew Darwin Key; niece Cheryl and her husband Beverley ("Sparky") Stewart; a special cousin McKinley Key; and a host of much loved great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at The Sun Chapel Fork Union with Rev. Margo Bruce, officiating and Minster  Teresa Baskfield eulogist. Interment will follow in the Byrd Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
