It is said when life begins, it is like an open book with many blank pages. Each day we live our life, our deeds are recorded page by page until we close our eyes in death and a wait for that great getting up morning. The pages of this book began for Gail Diana Martin Brown, better known as Rev. Gail, on July 6, 1952 in Washington, D.C. She was born to the late Colonel A. Martin and Bernice Brice Allen. Rev. Brown was raised by the late Ethel Martin Porter, whom she affectionately called her mom.
During her early childhood she became a member of Haden Chapel United Methodist Church, Fluvanna, VA. Rev. Gail continued her education at Virginia Union with Theology classes. She also attended Ashworth College. Later on Rev. Brown was called into the ministry to preach the gospel. She later started a church named United in Faith Baptist Church.
She preached the Gospel until her health began to fail; even then she preached the gospel. Rev. Gail loved the Lord and loved to help whoever came into her path. She loved family, friends and anyone that would allow her to love them. During her hospital stay, she would encourage anyone who came into contact with her. She ministered and prayed for everyone who helped her.
To cherish her memories, Rev. Gail Brown leaves her devoted husband, Deacon Broadus Brown of 46 years; five sisters: Bernette Agee (Joseph) of Louisa, VA, Jennifer Krozak (Joseph) of Maryland, Pamela Quarles (Donald), Denise Allen, both of Louisa, VA, Janet Gunnell of Palmyra, VA; two brothers, Perry Gunnell of Fluvanna, VA and Walter Martin of Louisa, VA; one aunt, Nellie Lewis of Fork Union, VA and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Rev. Gail also leaves to cherish her two dogs, Cody and Dakota, which she loved dearly. Rev. Gail will truly be missed for her kind and loving heart. You are at peace now, no more pain and suffering. Rest on Rev. Gail.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 in The Sun Chapel at D. D. Watson Fork Union.
