Doris Imogene Anderson , 80, departed this life on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Envoy at the Village in Fork Union, Virginia. She was the third child born May 4, 1939 to the late Henry P. and Beulah Lee Anderson. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edmonia Anderson.
Doris was a member of Gravel Hill Chapel until she united with the Columbia Baptist Church where she taught the young people class and was a member of the choir until her health failed. Doris attended Fluvanna County Public Schools graduating in the class of 1957 from the now historical S. C. Abrams High School. After graduation, she was given the opportunity to return as a substitute teacher. Later, she found a job in Richmond as a housekeeper and cared for two of the family's children (Laura and Rob Frayser) that she called her own. She loved them. She lived with the family and went everywhere they went. When her health declined and she could no longer work, they took care of her. When she was hospitalized, Laura was there daily as a daughter because Doris was family.
Doris was quiet but always willing to help whenever she could. Her favorite hymn was "Leaning on the Everlasting Arm"; her favorite Bible verse was I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)
She leaves to cherish her memory four brothers: Gollar (Velma), Henry, Kenneth of Fork Union, VA and Glenn (Annie) of Goochland, VA, four nephews, one devoted niece (Tonya), and other relatives and friends.
Doris lived a beautiful life. We will miss her but we know she is resting peacefully from her labor.
