On February 24, 2023, Cynthia R. Brown peacefully entered into eternal rest.
Born Cynthia Rosemary Brown on August 28,1954 at The University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville,VA, Cynthia was the youngest daughter of Virginia L. and Garfield B. Brown Jr.
Lovingy called "Cindy", Cynthia loved the Lord. She was well versed in scripture and knew her Bible. She could turn a conversation into a Bible Study in no time! You had better be on your material because she would put you in check. However, she would correct you in a very loving manner, "No beloved, check your Bible! Your information isn't correct."
Cindy wouldn't hesitate to correct your grammar. This was largely due to her degree in English from Lincoln University, Lincoln University, PA where she received her BA degree. She was an excellent typist; she would type student's term papers at Lincoln for a nominal fee. Cindy also attended Piedmont Virginia Community College where she received an Associate Degree in 1976 before attending Lincoln University.
While at Lincoln University, Cindy was involved in many activities. One of her most proud accomplishments was becoming a Lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority,Inc., Epsilon Nu Chapter on November 16,1979. She adored her "Pink and Green!" Several of Cindy's cousins are AKA's due to her influence. Upon graduating from Lincoln University, Cindy became employed by the Governor's office of New Jersey. She worked in the legal office until retirement.
Cindy and her siblings were among the first black students to attend the segregated schools in Fluvanna County in 1966. Schools became integrated the following year. Cindy graduated from Fluvanna Sr. High-School in 1972.
Cindy had a keen eye for fashion and style. She loved her sun dresses, large brim hats and lip gloss. Cindy did her thing when it came to decorating a house or room. She had a very created mind. She could turn a dull house into a museum and a room into an exotic location. She used to say, "Some things are fashion not function!"
Cindy loved her nieces and nephews. They affectionately called her aunt "Fray Fray!" She was a voice of reason for them. Especially, when they were going through life experiences. Cindy helped them emotionally and financially. They could always come to aunt "Fray Fray!" She also had a sense of humor and a laugh that was unforgettable! She was an awesome daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will truly be missed. Whenever she finished her conversation she would say "Aloha, I love you!" She would say "Aloha" meaning that I will see you again. We say "Aloha Cindy!" We pray we see you again.
Her oldest sister, La'vern and oldest brother, Sylvester preceded her in death.
Cindy leaves to cherish her memories: sister, Veronica Flanagan, Charlottesville,VA; brother, Van Buren Brown, Philadelphia, PA; sister-in-law, Tracy Brown,  Philadelphia, PA; aunts, Shirley Morris, Louisa, VA and Mattie Parrish, Staten Island, NY; uncle, Eddie Porter, Scottesville, VA; special cousin, Russell Brown, Martinsburg,WV, special friend, Wilbur Clay, Charlottesville,VA, and a host of neices, nephews, other cousins and friends.
Sorrowfully submitted,
The Brown Family
