Alease Ida Bland Cousins, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend departed this earthy life on Monday, December 28, 2020 at her home in Columbia, VA surrounded by her family. She was born on June 5, 1930, in Stage Junction, VA. to the late Charlie Bland and Ida Clark.

Alease was educated in Fluvanna County School System. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and became a member of the Byrd Grove Baptist Church where she served and praised God faithfully until her death. She was a member of the Senior Choir and Missionary.  She also served as church hostess and choir scheduler for revival services, a job she loved doing every year.

She worked for James River Correctional Center as Kitchen Supervisor for many years and then went on to work in Food Services at the University of Virginia Hospital for 15 years before retiring at Building Block Daycare in Palmyra, Va. Living for God became her profession, her occupation and she was a great employee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Phillip, Theodore, James, Presley, Samuel, Lynn, Shakespeare; one sister, Catherine McCowan; a grandson, Craig Payne, and granddaughter, Monique Watkins.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Sr.; five children, Deborah Payne, Kenneth, Jr. of Columbia VA, Sherry Bullock (Michael) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Jerry (Pearl) of Fork Union, VA and Kathy Gilbert (Patrick) of Hurt, VA.; one sister, Ruth Megginson of Gordonsville, VA; her beloved grandchildren, Delicia and Quindara Payne, Michael Jr., Ethan, Bradford, and Elijah Bullock, Darcelle, Tremayne, Roderick, and Keisha and Gabrielle Gilbert; beloved great-grandchildren; JaMyla, Quamir, Quaniya, Ky'Aire, Mikey, Josiah, Dimitri, Ellie, Adonis, Althena, J'Quan, A'lycia, Destiny,Camerica, Dylani, Kaylee, Carter, Kyera and Xavier and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
